This half term our topic is

'Curious about Cornwall?'
We will be answering the questions:

What can I find out by exploring the local area and beyond?

What are the different activities available in Cornwall?

How can we look after Cornwall’s natural beauty?

We will continue to develop our outdoor learning in Class Two with outdoor themed lessons in Literacy, Science and Topic work.

As aspiring readers and writers, we will:

Explore Arthurian legends through Marcia Williams’s King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Study nouns and pronouns for clarity and cohesion and direct speech.

In R.E we will reflecting on this half term's value of 'Peace'.

We will explore how and why do people mark the significant events of life? We will identify some beliefs about love, commitment and promises in two religious traditions and describe what they mean.Offer informed suggestions about the meaning and importance of ceremonies of commitment for religious and non-religious people today.

In Maths, we will be developing our skills in Multiplication and Division. We will also explore measurement, develop our understanding of Money and learn what Fractions are.

We will continue to work on plugging any gaps in the children’s knowledge with interventions outside of the daily maths lesson and have morning activities which keep previous knowledge simmering away.

We will also continue to have daily times table practise.

In Science, we will be learning about:

Year 3:  Explore light, reflections and shadows. They will learn about different sources of light, and that we need light to see.

Year 4: Explore Electricity. We will identify common appliances which run on electricity, build circuits out of sweets, identify and set up simple practical enquiries and fair tests.

In Geography we will identify and locate areas of interest in the county of Cornwall. We will study The Hurlers, near Minions, and popular seaside towns in the county.

In History we will explore what it is to become an archaeologist. We will look at the historical and social importance of The Hurlers. We will also identify important historical figures in Cornish History.

In Art and DT we will be designing and baking our own pasties and creating the sword of Excalibur. We will also be printing Cornish landmarks in the style of Japanese artist Hokusai. 

As aspiring athletes, we will develop our skills as Dancers. We will explore movement skills and movement to music.

As aspiring programmers, we will be developing an understanding of computer science. We will be using a variety of different programmes and also presenting data and information.

As aspiring musicians, we will develop our percussion music skills from last term, appraising and composing our own music.

In PSHE we will learn about how to be the best version of ourselves. We will learn how to keep ourselves safe. We will also develop our knowledge of healthy eating and healthy bodies.
